New Look Uniform Sees Maritime Shift into Top Gear

Felixstowe-based Maritime Transport is the largest privately-owned container transport business in the country. Employing 1,750 people, the company owns a fleet of 1,400 low-carbon fuel-efficient trucks and utilises the latest technologies to optimise its complex 24/7 logistics operations.

The firm’s highly trained drivers are the backbone of the company, and Maritime goes to great lengths to ensure they feel valued and are looked after properly. On the road day-in and day-out, navigating the UK’s busy road networks, they’re the firm’s most visible brand ambassadors – and need to look good at all times.

The Challenge

Maritime Logistics Case Study

Maritime wanted to elevate the image of the “Maritime Driver”, moving on from an old style corporate uniform consisting of cargo trousers, polo shirt and fleece jacket.

The new uniforms had to be instantly recognisable to customers, portray a more professional company image and, most importantly, had to be both functional and comfortable. Ensuring employees could undertake their day-to-day activities with confidence and pride.

The Solution

Maritime selected HeathBrook to design a new uniform for its drivers and management teams. As part of the development process, HeathBrook consulted employees across the business, using this feedback to inform choices around fabric composition and weight and design features that would boost comfort for wearers.

To ensure Maritime can outfit new joiners fast – and replenish items for the existing workforce without delay – uniform items can be ordered and delivered to any depot location on a super-fast 24-hour turnaround.

The Result

The distinctive new uniform has proved a big hit with all personnel, who love the more professional and smarter image it projects.

To help Maritime minimise wastage and maximise cost efficiencies, HeathBrook’s innovative online ordering portal Workwear Manager keeps track of the frequency and quantity of items ordered by wearer. Giving Maritime the deep visibility and uniform management control it needs.
